Leisurely Snowshoe Tour with Outdoor-Fondue

On this leisurely snowshoe tour we will experience the peace and diversity of nature in winter. Along the way we’ll build a campfire in the snow and cook a delicious fondue. We’ll traverse the snowy landscapes from Weissenstein above Solothurn over the gently rolling hills of the Jura.

3.5 hours walking time. 500m ascent, 500m decent. This tour is technically undemanding.

Costs: CHF 95.- incl. fondue.

Christmas Snowshoe Tour

Christmas on the Mont Sujet 1383 m.ü.M.

What better way to spend the 25th of December than on a leisurely snow shoe hike! Away from the ski slopes we'll traverse the serene snow covered Jura forests and enjoy breathtaking views over the alps. Your snow shoes and other equipment will all be provided. Along the way the guide will share tips for an enjoyable outdoor winter experience including avalanche safety instructions. However, the main focus of this tour is to enjoy the winter nature wonderland.

Hiking time 3.5 hours. Ascent and descent 500m each.
Cost: CHF 75.- per person including guiding, organisation and snow shoe equipment.
Maximum participants: 10.

Photographic Field Day - Trentham, Australia

The Wombat Forest is home to an incredible diversity of fungi. With their peculiar forms and amazing array of colours, fungi make intriguing photographic subjects.

In this workshop participants will learn how to photograph fungi in different contexts to capture both their scientific and aesthetic nature. We will focus on the particular challenges of macro-photography such as high contrast, low light, colour issues and techniques for controlling depth of field, addressing both technical aspects of exposure management and creative aspects of composition.

Following an indoor highly interactive indoor theoretical session, the afternoon will be spent in the field searching for fungi and putting techniques into practice.

This workshop will be presented by two professional photographers, Alison Pouliot and Valérie Chételat with plenty of opportunity for individual assistance with camera operation and photographic principles.

Time: 10:00 – 16:00.

Documentary Photography Workshop


Documentary Photography – Creating stories with pictures

 In this two-part course you will be immersed deep within the fascinating world of documentary photography.

Experienced documentary photographer, Valérie Chételat, will guide you through the thought processes and practical aspects involved in documentary photography. With practical advice, tips and individual assistance, Valérie will help you develop your ‘visual language’ to create compelling photo essays. While technical aspects of photography will be covered, the creative aspects will be the focus.

Following the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their photo essays at a critique session where we will discuss the images and their stories.

This workshop will be held in German language.

Nepal - Trekking in the Himalayas

Our journey takes us among the dramatic scenery of the famous 8000m peaks of Everest, Lhoste, Makalu and Cho Oyu.
We visit the lush green Khumbu region where Rhodendrons drape hillsides to a height of 4000 metres, against a backdrop of glowing glaciers.
We will enjoy the generous hospitality of the sherpas who will host us in our lodge accommodation.

Press Photography Workshop

Photography workshop for budding press photographers

How do we recognise and distill the essence of events and subjects under the time pressures that are the reality for a press photographer?

How do we find captivating aspects of seemingly banal situations?

Therein lies the skill of a press photographer!

Over the last two decades, the photographs of photographer, Valérie Chételat, have appeared daily in Der Bund newspaper. During this workshop, you will receive practical tips and advice for creating compelling press photographs through various practical press scenarios. Most importantly, we will look at ways for you to add your particular style and flair, to give them your ‘photographic signature’.

Following the practical session we will critique images together in the seminar room.

This workshop will be held in German language.

Grande Traversata delle Alpi GTA - By foot to the Mediterranean

 Our hike follows large parts of the Grande Traversata delle Alpi, GTA, renowned as being the best long-distance hiking trail in the Alps. The track originally provided connections between remote mountain villages. This diverse and impressive trail will take us through dramatic alpine landscapes, across plateaus, over passes and through abandoned settlements.

One of the many highlights of the trip is the Rocciamelone. Without the need for climbing equipment we will ascend the highest pilgrimage place of the alps. From the 3538m summit we will enjoy panoramic views of the famous Mont Blanc (4810m), Gran Paradiso (4061m) and Monte Rosa (4634m).

This hike forms one part of a multi-leg journey running over several years. The ultimate goal is to reach Ventimiglia on the Mediterranean Sea .

Daily hiking time between 4 – 8h with ascents and descents of up to 1400m/day.
This hike traverses mostly well-defined trails with a few short sections off track. The ascents and descents and the long daily walking times require good fitness and endurance.
Suitable for sure-footed, experienced hikers.
It is possible to use public transport on some days and therefore include personal rest days.

We stay overnight in mountain huts and basic hotel accommodation.

Maximal number of participants: 9.

Chile Bolivia Trekking

Atacama Desert, geysers, salt flats, volcanic landscapes, Lake Titicaca

This trip takes us to the other-worldly and extreme landscapes of sandy deserts, salt lakes, rocky canyons and active volcanoes. We will experience this unique natural region between Chile and Bolivia through leisurely hikes and tours with our all-terrain vehicles and boat trips.

Along the way we will admire geysers and strange volcanic landscapes. We’ll enounter lagoons filled with flamingos, shimmering in different colors. We'll bathe in the hot springs, and marvel at cacti and herds of lamas and vicuñas.

Free from light pollution, we’ll stargaze the vast, dark southern stars. The journey takes us through extremely remote landscapes and some of the most beautiful South American cities.

Daily hiking time max. 4-5 hours. Several days with shorter hiking time.

Tanzanian Wildlife Experience

Kilimanjaro – Ngorongoro – Serengeti – Zanzibar
Tanzania – the land of boundless animal migrations! We will be swept along in the magnificence and immensity of Tanzanian nature. Our journey takes us from the forested foothills the Kilimanjaro to the stunningly beautiful Tarangire National Park. Then onwards to the Ngorongoro, the world‘s largest crater, and across the endless savannas of Serengeti. Millions of Africa‘s largest mammals trek from year to year through the Serengeti. There will be ample time for birdwatching and wildlife photography. Our final highlight is a trip to the spice island of Zanzibar.

This trip includes several easy to moderate level hikes (2-5 hours), visits to cultural heritage sites and 4WD drive safaris through National Parks.
